
The performers below appeared in the debut of Moisty the Snowman Saves Christmas at the New York Musical Theatre Festival in October, 2009. We plan to bring Moisty the Snowman Saves Christmas next year and for special events.
Bradford Scobie (Moisty the Snowman)
BRADFORD SCOBIE is the Writer and Co-Composer of Moisty the Snowman Saves Christmas and performs as Moisty the Snowman. Bradford is a comedic character actor, writer and composer. His work can best be described as children’s theatre for adults. Amongst his many characters, Bradford can be seen as mutant super-villain Doctor Donut, the dirty puritan Pilgrim William, chicken loving country singing, trick roper, Cuz’n Rooster. He recently performed his original comedy show, Gorgeous Morons at the Dublin International Theatre Festival. (Five Stars – The Irish Independent) Bradford wrote the children’s television pilot, Bada-Boom! which was produced by the Fox Family Network; a science fiction puppet show in which Bradford performed all of the voice characterizations. He wrote and hosted the movie-clip comedy show, Thrillavision for the Burly Bear Network, in which Bradford played multiple characters. He wrote and starred in the short film Gas Huffin’ Bad Gals! (Winner: Best Genre Parody – The New England Film Awards). As a voice-over artist, Bradford can be heard in numerous cartoon shows, among them The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Wonder Pets! on Nick Jr as well as television commercials for such brands as Milky Way, BMW, Verizon, McDonalds, Nivea and Dunkin Donuts. He also wrote and starred in the radio comedy series, Radio Impossible.
Comedian and renowned entertainer MURRAY HILL, “the hardest working middle-aged man in show business,” is a relentless retro shtick slinger, buster of audience chops and freewheeling ad-libber. The New York Times anointed Murray “the patriarch of downtown performance.” He's produced and starred in several theatrical productions: The Murray Hill Show, A Murray Little Christmas, Murray Hill: Caught in the Act, and This is Burlesque. He recently performed with Dita Von Teese for sold-out engagements in Los Angeles and Seattle’s Triple Door. Murray hosted the Immodesty Blaize Burlesque Show at London’s Arts Theatre in the West End. He’s also hosted sold-out burlesque shows at the Bloomsbury Ballroom (London), MTV Italia’s opening party for the Venice Film Festival, NY International Burlesque Festival, and Just For Laughs (Montreal) directed by Thierry Mugler. He's performed his comedy at top showrooms like Upright Citizen’s Brigade, Gotham Comedy Club, Comix, LA’s Billy Wilder Theater, and headlined his own show at Caroline’s on Broadway. Murray has toured with Le Tigre, hosted The Gossip and introduced the Beastie Boys, Antony and The Johnsons, to name a few. He has been the subject of books, documentaries, radio programs and has been seen on television, films and music videos. Murray has also been welcomed in the halls of academia as a lecturer and performer. STEVE HAYES won Oustanding Actor at the International New York Fringe Theatre Festival in 2006 for The Penguin Tango by Stephen Svoboda. In 2008, he was again at The Fringe performing in the original two character show "Parental Indiscretions"written and performed with comedy partner Tom Cayler. He appeared in GAYFEST NYC in 2008 in his original one-person show, "Steve Hayes Hollywood Reunion"directed by Vincent J. Cardinal. Steve and Tom Cayler recently appeared in a sold-out engagement of their latest comedy, "Stories We Tell Ourselves" at Don't Tell Mama in New York and The Pontine Theatre in Portsmouth. He starred Off-Broadway in Paul Corrigan's comedy "Queen's Blvd" also directed by Vincent J. Cardinal. He starred in the Fine Line Features motion picture trick directed by Jim Fall and starring Tori Spelling and Christian Campbell . trick was nominated for Best Picture at the Sundance Film Festival and Steve can be heard singing a solo number on the soundtrack CD. He recently completed the film; "The Big Gay Musical" to be released in September, in which he sings three songs and plays GOD. He appeared in Johnathan Tolins "The Last Sunday In June" at The Caldwell Theatre in Boca Raton, Florida and starred in the ABC television pilot The Maintenance Men’s Lounge as well as the award winning industrial film, Time To Save for Merrill Lynch. As a comedian, Steve is a nine time nominee and three time winner of the Manhattan Association of Cabarets and Clubs MAC Award for Outstanding Comedian and Characterization. He is also the recipient of the Backstage Bistro Award for Comedy Performer of the Year. He is a six time recipient of the ASCAP Popular Music Award and is the author and co-lyricist of the musical Kiss Me Quick Before the Lava Reaches the Village and the co-lyricist of Girl Of My Dreams. Both with music by Peter Ekstrom and developed by Musical Theatre Works in New York. “LAVA” was produced at The Citicorp Center in New York, The Northshore Music Theatre in Boston and The Village Theatre in Seattle. Girl Of My Dreams was produced at the Barter Theatre in Abingdon, Virginia and the Village Theatre in Seattle. He taught comedy at The Cabaret Convention at Yale University.
PATRICIA DELL is a versatile performer with a career that has taken her throughout the United States performing in concert, recital, opera, musical theater and cabaret. She studied with Marni Nixon and Regine Crespin in New York City as well as Gerard Souzay in the south of France. With the Center for Contemporary Opera (NYC), Ms. Dell has had the opportunity to create the roles of Mrs. Stevenson in the world premiere of Jack Beeson's SORRY, WRONG NUMBER (now available on CD with Albany Records) and Doll in the New York premiere of Daron Hagen’s VERA OF LAS VEGAS. Her musical theater career has included the roles of the divine divas Mame Dennis (MAME) Dorothy Brock (42nd STREET), Ruth Stein (MILK AND HONEY), Desiree (A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC), and Anna (THE KING AND I). She is now adding the infamous Madame Florence Foster Jenkins to her list of roles having just completed a very successful production of SOUVENIR at the Kitchen Theatre Company in Ithaca, New York. STEPHEN VARA was fresh out of Emerson College with a BFA in acting, when he Co-founded the House Of Borax in Boston, where he Played McCorkindale in Funeral Games, and Dr. Prentice In What the Butler Saw. After moving to Los Angeles, Stephen joined The Village Idiots, an improv group performing at The Powerhouse Theater in Santa Monica. Stephen wrote and starred in the musical adaptations of She Devils On Wheels, and Trilogy Of Terror. To Angelenos, he is probably best known for his portrayal from 1993 to 2002 of 17 year old Sharon Needles, America's Sweetheart, one of the habitues of the Hollywood Trailer Park. In New York Stephen has appeared in The Baby Daddy Show, and Wake Up, America. At 6'5" Stephen is no stranger to playing monsters, as Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris (Directors of "Little Miss Sunshine") discovered when they cast him as a hideous futuristic villain in an ad for Puma. Stephen represented M&M Mars for 2 years as Herman Munster in advertisements and personal appearances. Other commercials include Miller Lite, Mervyns and Publisher's Clearing House.
DORIAN SHORTS is very excited to be joining the cast of Moisty The Snowman Saves Christmas. This is his first time performing at NYMF and he is thrilled to be working on this show. Dorian is a graduate of NYU's Tisch School Of The Arts and currentlystudies at Broadway Dance Center. He was most recently seen on the first national tours ofNickelodeon's The Backyardigan's Live, and Captain Louie. In New York he has performed in such other great productions as Grand Hotel at the Connely Theater, The Wild Party at The Culture Project, The Dybbuk at the Frederick Lowe Theater and Man Of La Mancha at the Duo Theater. He feverently hopes that everyone enjoys the show and brings back friends. Ho Ho Ho!
DEANNA GLOVER is thrilled to be fulfilling her life long dream of playing a lesbian rag doll! A proud native of PIttsburgh, she has worked with Maine State MT, MT Wichita, West Virginia Public, Surflight, and PIttsburgh Musical Theatre. She most recently toured the country as a screaming teenager in Bye Bye Birdie. Other annoying teens she has enjoyed playing include Penny Pingleton in Hairspray and Patty Simcox in Grease. Deanna thanks her friends and family that motivate and inspire her every day; most importantly her dog, Paddy.
